Face Oils

Try applying a drop over your foundation by patting it all along highlight areas like the cheekbones for extra dimension and glow

Will face oils make me break out?

It’s a common misconception that using oil on your skin is bad for you. Not the case at all! When you think about it, your body naturally produces oil to moisturize your skin—why would offering a substance with a similar molecular structure suddenly cause your body to react badly? In fact, using oils instead of heavily astringent products like alcohol-based toners or chemical drying agents like salicylic acid is far better for your skin in the long run.

Can I use face oils around the eyes?

Ensure that you’re not getting too close to the actual eye and don’t use so much product that it might actually drip inside the eye.

Can I use more than one face oil?

Each UMA oil is designed to boost the underlying health and vitality of your skin, so it is not necessary to combine the oils in one use (though you can if you wish!). There are several situations we may recommend using multiple face oils in your routine: day vs. night; use different oils for different concerns; switch it up seasonally; during hormonal skin changes

Wellness Oils

How can I use my UMA wellness oil? Can I use more than one at a time?

Each of our wellness oils contains a unique formulation of essential oils which have both trans-dermal (through the skin) and olfactory (through sense of smell) aromatherapeutic benefits. In order to fully enjoy them, we recommend completing our 6-point patent-pending ritual with just one oil. You can certainly use more than one oil during the day, but we recommend spacing it out (for example: use one in the morning and one in the evening). Also, we encourage you to use the oils when you wish to target a specific concern (example: Pure Energy when you need a boost to get through the day).

Can I use wellness oils on my face?

While our wellness oils can be used topically, we don’t recommend using them on the face. The high potency of essential oils in these blends may cause breakouts or reactions.

Are wellness oils safe to use during pregnancy?

All UMA oils are created for safe external use by pregnant and non-pregnant women alike. Given the use of roughly 9 essential oils in each formula, we ensure the risk of exposure to one particular type of oil is completely minimized, and we took additional care to steer clear of oils that experts like Robert Tisserand note as ones to potentially avoid in the first three months of pregnancy. We use only 100% organic essential oils and carrier oils, so UMA blends are very well tolerated and understood by the body, and are safe for use by expectant and nursing mommies alike!

Masks

Start with a freshly cleaned, damp face
Scoop out dime-sized amount of mask into palm and mix in a few drops of water
You only need to apply a thin layer!
Use a warm washcloth for easy removal
Optional: Run an ice cube over face to tighten pores and reduce redness
Think you should just slap your mask on and call it a day? Of course there’s nothing wrong with doing it the traditional way, but that brand-new mask you just bought is capable of so much more. Here are our favorite ways to mix and mask: multi-masking, mask cleanse, traditional mask

Spot Treatment

Add 1-2 drops of spot treatment to your face oil for all-over use when you feel a break-out coming on.
Why is my spot treatment not all the way full to the top?
Our spot treatment has the highest concentration of essential oils of any of our products. Due to the volatile nature of essential oils, they actually evaporate over time, which is why it may look like your product is shrinking!

Eye Oil

1-2 drops is all it takes to cover the entire eye area on both sides
Dispense onto ring fingers and rub them together before dabbing onto eyelids and underneath the eyes
Gently massage upper and lower lids, moving from the outer corner to the inner corner with small, circular motions
What makes the eye oil different from the Absolute Anti Aging Face Oil?
While the Absolute Anti Aging Eye Oil uses a lot of the same ingredients as the Anti Aging Face Oil, it also goes a step further to include ingredients like eucalyptus and geranium that are specifically targeted to treat the delicate eye area. Geranium essential oil stimulates circulation, while eucalyptus oil invigorates the under eye area, eliminating puffiness and other signs of fatigue. It also uses more carrier oils to bring more moisture to the area. The blend of jojoba, rosehip, almond, and grape seed might be slightly too heavy for the entire face, but works wonders in delivering hydration to the eye area.

Hair Oil

Use 3-4 drops all over before heat treatment for protection and shine
Use 2-3 drops on lengths and ends for frizz control, conditioning, and luster
Does UMA’s Intensely Nourishing Hair Oil help with hair growth?
Clarifying extracts of grapefruit and lemon remove impurities from pores as they stimulate the hair’s natural growth process, enhancing elasticity and strengthening hair from root to end. Hibiscus and Indian gooseberry also work to stimulate the roots for lustrous growth.
What about premature graying?
Spot your first gray hair? No need to freak out. Our Intensely Nourishing Hair Oil harnesses the power of cypriol to preserve hair pigment to prevent signs of premature graying.

Body Oil

For best results, use on freshly washed, damp skin
Work from bottom to top, starting with the legs and moving up to the arms. Then move onto the chest and abdomen, ending with the feet.
Use long, circular motions and gentle strokes
Can you use Absolute Anti-Aging Body Oil on the face?
Our Absolute Anti Aging Body Oil does use a lot of the same ingredients as our Absolute Anti Aging Face Oil, but the body oil formula is heavier with carrier oils of pomegranate, grape seed, moringa, and jojoba. Together, this blend might be too heavy for the face, so we recommend using one of our lighter face oil blends to avoid breakouts.

Baby Oil

Use long, circular motions and gentle strokes
Use just before bed
Is this oil safe to use on my baby or toddler?
The concentration of essential oils in this blend has been kept lower than in the rest of our formulas, and is safe for topical use on babies and toddlers of any age! Always spot test new skincare on a small area of baby skin for allergies prior to full application.
Is this oil just for babies?
Absolutely not! We recommend using our baby oil if you have sensitive, dry skin or if you’re looking to calm redness and irritation. Many non-moms and mamas alike love using this oil for its soothing influence on the body and mind – thanks to ingredients like lavender and chamomile.
